Market Reach

Danbury Market Profile

Location - Western Connecticut, 65 miles north of Manhattan and 65 miles southwest of Hartford.

Metro Population - 212,228 (2000 Census). Greater Danbury is one of the fastest growing regions in Connecticut. While state population increased only slightly to 3.6% since 1990, Greater Danbury population grew by 13%.

Income - $107,831 average income per household.

Education - 40% of the market (25+) has a college or graduate degree.

Occupation - 43.8% of the labor force is managerial.

Employment - At 2.8%, Greater Danbury has one of the lowest unemployment rates in America.

Economy - Greater Danbury is the #1 retail sales market in Connecticut with total retail sales of over $5 billion. 75% of Greater Danbury work locally. They spend their money here, creating a very strong, vibrant local economy.

Media - Competing media do not effectively cover the market. Greater Danbury sits on the fringe of the New York and Hartford/New Haven television markets and viewers split their loyalties among more than 15 non-local television stations. To saturate the market with cable, one would need to buy three different systems, a much more expensive proposition than in most markets.

Radio reaches 91.4% of the market. Berksire Broadcasting's 98Q, WLAD and True Oldies 850 cluster reaches 37.1% of the market.
